Queen Dorothea of Denmark's letter to Birgitte Gøye, dated May 12, 1551

Dorothea of Saxe-Lauenburg (born July 9, 1511, died October 7, 1571) was queen consort of Denmark and Norway by marriage to King Christian III of Denmark. She was known to have wielded influence upon the affairs of state in Denmark.

In this letter, the queen asks Birgitte to procure various plants, of which they should speak in more detail when Birgitte Gjøe comes to Copenhagen.

The letter:

Dorothea mett guds naade Danmarckis, Norgis, Wendis och Gottis drottningh etc.

Vor gunsth tillfornn. Wij bede tegh och begere, att thu wiltt giøre thin alderstørste fliidt till, att thu kandt flye oss thesse effterschreffne øurtther, som wij kunde lade sette vdj ballier och ellers, som er førsth rett meyoran, brisilicon, neglickenn, cipress, gule fioell och hues andre slagh gode øurtther, som thu kandt bekomme. Och nar thu hiidt till oss kommendis worder, wille wij ydermere selff thale mett tegh ther om. Heer mett skeer oss synnderligenn till willie. Befallenndis tegh gud. Schreffuitt paa Kiøpnehaffnns slott tiisdagenn nesth effter søndagenn exaudj aar etc. mdlj.
