Katarina Gustavsdotter Vasa (born June 6, 1539, died December 21, 1610) was a Swedish princess and countess consort of East Frisia as the spouse of Edzard II, Count of East Frisia. She was the eldest daughter of King Gustav I Vasa of Sweden and his first wife Margareta Leijonhufvud. Katarina was the autonomous regent of Berum and Norden in East Frisia from 1599 to her death in 1610.
Katarina signed this letter to her maternal aunt Märta Sture on May 2, 1550, when she was a month away from her eleventh birthday.

Caterine medt Gudtz nåde Swerigis Götis och Wenndis &c. Princesse och Greffinne till Ostfrislandt.
Wår synnerlige gunst .... käre Morsyster. Wij haffue aff eder scriffuelse förstået, dhet j haffwe waret hårdeligenn siuke och ille tilpass, huilcket Gud kenne vij icke gerne förnummet haffve, och wele then Alzmechtige Gudh gansche gärne haffue af hiärtet betacket som edher nu till sundhet igen holpet haffwer, och önsche, ath han nådeligen wille wärdiges edher medt helse och helbrögde altijdt lennge begåffue och stadigt hoss eder bliffue lathe. Ther och eder udhi alle andre motte lycksaligen wälginge, ähr oss altijt gladeligit, till ath förnimme. .... Och wele edher här medt vdhi thenne Alzmechtiges nådige beskerm altijtt kärlig. haffue befalet. Dat. Westerårs 2 Maij Anno 50.

Vi hava av Eder skrivelse förstått, det I hava varit hårdeligen sjuka och illa tillpass, vilket Gud känne vi icke gärna förnummit hava, och vele den Allsmäktige Gud ganska gärna hava av hjärtat betacket som Eder nu till sundhet igen hulpit haver, och önska, att han nådeligen ville värdigas Eder med hälsa och helbrägda alltid länge begåve och stadigt hos Eder bliva låte. Där och Eder uti alla andra måtte lycksaligen välginge, är oss alltid gladeligit, till att förnimma. .... Och vele Eder härmed uti denne Allsmäktiges nådiga beskärm alltid kärligen hava befallit. Datum Västerås 2 Maii anno 50.
English translation (my own):
Katarina, by the grace of God, Princess of the Swedes, Goths and Vandals and Countess of East Frisia.
Our special favour ... dear Aunt. We have understood from your letter that you have been harshly sick and ill-disposed, which God knows We have not gladly learned, and We have very gladly, from the heart, thanked the Almighty God that He has now helped you back to health, and We desire that He may graciously make you worthy and always gift you with health and always be with you. That you have also been well in all other things is always joyous for Us to learn. ... And We have always lovingly hereby commended you into the Almighty's protection. Given at Västerås, May 2, 1550.
