Dear Lady Cowell,
Many & hearty thanks for your liberal contribution to the Memorial Purse which arrived just as I was starting for the King's function at the Hospital, & your very kind letter. Thanks Lady Collins is wonderfully well. She is now busy looking for a new home, as Broom Hill is needed for Sir Robert's successor. I fear she will feel much leasing the house they had as home for so many years, but I hope something nice can be found not far off near to her brother. —
I can well imagine how strange Osborne must have felt to you! But I like to think that the spirit of the great Queen hovers over the place, guarding & guiding those merry boys to become loyal gentlemen, serving to uphold The Queen's Empire. — I hope when the days are longer, that you will be able to pay me a little visit. —
I know how full your life must be — for if anything is to be done, one must do it oneself! — But work like that is a boon & a joy.
Believe me
Yours affect.ly
Helen
