Princess Louise Margaret of Prussia, later Duchess of Connaught and Strathearn (born Louise Margaret Alexandra Victoria Agnes, on July 25, 1860, died March 14, 1917), was a member of the House of Hohenzollern and of the British royal family. She served as the viceregal consort of Canada when her husband, Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, served as the governor general from 1911 to 1916.

The letter:

Buckingham Palace
June 21st 1882.
Dear Lady Cowell,
You have given me so much pleasure by your kind note & the lovely orchids you sent me this evening. I hasten to thank you very much for kindly thinking of sending them to me.

The Duke arrived yesterday at [illegible] Bay & I heard that he was feeling better — He was very unwell for a few days just during the Ascot week when we had some [illegible] with us at Bagshot. I hope that this trip to Gibraltar will quite restore him to health, strength.
With renewed thanks
Believe me
dear Lady Cowell
Yours sincerely
Louise Margaret.
