Dec: 28. 1901
Dear M: Walsh,
A thousand thanks for the lovely basket of sweets you most kindly sent me fr. our [illegible]. I was delighted with it & so touched at you thinking of me & knowing my little [illegible]. We have been stuffing away hard, they are so delicious & reminds me ... many excellent things you always provided us with when we came to ... & spent those happy hours with you [illegible]. I [was] so glad to hear through Clemmie that you ... yr. new Villa to the old ..., it must seem odd ... you being there so ... the whole place [illegible] — I hope [you] will have good luck ... those moving [?] rooms ... Monte Carlo! I suppose you see many [of] our old friends from former years!

We have spent such a quiet Xmas at my Parents & listen were in [illegible] Mamma was so [illegible] & not allowed to travel & [illegible] Charlotte Knollys ... seriously ill with shingles & pleurisy, however now they are beter & we hope to see them all down here on Monday. Luckily George & May are here & so we four meet daily & pay visits to look [illegible] —
